How to be a literate critical user of AI?

Problem
The basic irony that we now face is that the skills we need to use AI technology wisely and responsibility are gradually being eroded by the careless and undirected use of these very AI technologies!
Human vs LLMs
Being a literate critical user of AI starts with acknowledging that LLMs don’t actually produce facts or information, their output is evidence of an algorithmic process that needs to be interrogated, understood and worked through. LLM’s are not databases or search engines they are algorithmic predictive models! In other words, AI literacy requires acknowledging that LLMs do not love truth. Only humans are capable of asking questions that stem from a love of truth.

thinking+LLMs
We believe that LLMs like ChatGPT and DeepSeek can help us to confront uncertainly and market volatility but only if we direct these AI technologies at the behest of critical thinking. If we are unreflective and over-reliant in our use of AI, we risk losing the very things that allows us to keep what makes us human — the ability to think on our own!
